We love curling up with a stack of comic books to read, but reading these comics presents a bit of a challenge. Believe it or not, these comics are actually paintings of comics. Sharon Moody’s hyperrealistic comic book paintings are pretty awesome. Her paintings are so detailed that they trick us into believing that we’re seeing actual objects or, in this case, real comic books. She uses an art technique called Trompe-l’œil. To achieve the trompe l’oeil effect, the artist has to give us the perfect perspective along with shadows that appear believable. The bent back and curling pages of these comics are particularly pleasing.
